Everyone loves a good sale, and no one ever wants to pay more than they have to for something. By buying during the end of season or year-end sales, you can get some great deals. Here are some great ideas on how to stretch your dollar.

With the unemployment rate at its highest point since the Great Depression, many are questioning whether an economic recovery is really beginning or not. The national unemployment rate is over 10.2% but what most people don’t hear is the “real” jobless rate is around 17.5%. Nearly 1 in 5 Americans is either out of work or under-employed. Those figures come from the U-6 measure of unemployment.

In an economy that is seeing the highest unemployment numbers since the Great Depression many out-of-work Americans are looking for work, but the jobs are scarce. Many have given up their job search all together. For the solution for the future we may need to look to the past.

I was shopping for some new furniture and I noticed that the salesman helping me had a nice Submariner Rolex on. After I complimented him on his watch, he said "Thank you. I'll have it paid off in three more months." If there was a "Dummy Alarm" around, it would have been obnoxiously loud right then.

When you are getting out of debt, you really need a plan to attack your credit cards. Most people I talk to ask where they should start. I recommend starting with the one with the smallest balance and biggest payment.

Why do I recommend this strategy? You want to start with the small balances because it allows you to eliminate the debts faster, and you can see progress quickly. But you could have more than one card with balances that are about the same. And in that case you want to attack the one that takes the most of your money each month.
